OUR FOUNDERS

The Lucy Paws Company was founded in 1999 by Paula Geier for one purpose only. SAFETY!

Following surgery, a family member of Paula's was taking a strong, disorienting pain medication. This prescription was stored on a single shelf with all of her family's other prescriptions, as do many other American households. When it was time for this family member to take her medications, she inadvertently opened the wrong medicine bottle, which contained medicine to control arthritis of the family dog, Lucy. She had raised two pills to her mouth before she realized her mistake, narrowly avoiding taking a potentially dangerous dose. When she learned of this, Paula consulted several veterinarians and decided that visually distinct safety bottles and caps would greatly reduce the risk of a family member taking doses of the incorrect veterinary medication. The Lucy Paws Company was born.

The mission of Lucy Paws is to develop and produce clearly marked, marketable safety bottles which will allow the veterinary community not only to demonstrate their concern for the health of their animal patients, but also to protect their human clients.

Lucy was a Golden Retreiver/mix with a heart full of love. She was the Geier's family pet for over 11 years. On Dec. 7, 2001, she passed away. Lucy was much loved and will be sorely missed.
